Compensators connect the furnace transformer secondary terminals to the short network busbar. They take up installation tolerance, absorb thermal expansion and contraction, and damp the vibration caused by electromagnetic forces in the transformer and the short network.

A compensator is an elastic connecting element. Its working body is a bellows, and the effective extension and compression of that bellows absorbs dimensional change in pipes, conduits, busbars and vessels caused by heating and cooling.
The assembly consists of the bellows itself together with end tubes, supports, flanges and connecting pipes.
Connects the copper busbar terminal on the transformer secondary side to the short network busbar of the electric furnace, compensating installation tolerance and absorbing the vibration produced by electromagnetic forces in the transformer.
Connects the transformer secondary terminals to the water-cooled copper busbar tubes of the short network. It carries both water and current, joining the electrical circuit and the cooling circuit on both sides — no separate external water piping is needed, and the installation looks much cleaner.

L is the overall length of the compensator. Economic current density is given as 1,300 ±20% in the manufacturer's table (A/cm² of effective copper section, equal to roughly 13 A/mm²); the value for your duty is confirmed in the technical agreement.
Used wherever the short network carries high current and has to stay cool: electric arc furnaces, silicon-manganese furnaces, ferronickel furnaces, ferrochrome furnaces, ferrosilicon furnaces and calcium carbide furnaces.

On the GL series, D1 is the diameter of the transformer secondary outlet tube and D2 the diameter of the high-current busbar tube; both are set by your installation. The parameters above can be adjusted to suit the process. They are not acceptance criteria — the technical scheme and the supply agreement govern.
Send tube OD and wall in inches, hole centres in inch, cross section in MCM. We convert and quote in your units, and the drawing carries both.
Millimetres and mm² throughout, flange patterns to your standard, tube sizes to your short network drawing.
The tables above show both. Where the two systems round differently, the metric figure is the manufacturing dimension.
No two short networks are identical, so compensators are built to the installation. Tell us the tube sizes at both ends, the distance to be bridged, the movement to be absorbed and the current, and we confirm the model and the drawing before production.
Send the short network drawing, the tube sizes at both ends and the current. We confirm the series and the dimensions, then quote with price, weight, lead time and packing.
